Cynthia Pevehouse
Of Counsel

Cynthia brings more than a decade of experience as the chief legal officer for publicly traded, multinational companies. She has led business, legal, and compliance operations in a broad range of industries, notably and extensively in technology and financial services. Her success in managing high-stakes matters for global corporations, sometimes involving sensitive and high-exposure issues provides RED LAW clients the most valuable kind of executive insight, perspective, and calm.

Whether she’s working closely with individual officers and directors on corporate governance issues, or advising individuals in transition or through crises, Cynthia brings an incredible range of perspectives to bear in her thinking and practice.

She is a recognized master of international legal and compliance issues, with a reputation born from more than her extensive knowledge of business and legal policy. Her effectiveness in a broad range of contexts comes equally from her striking ability to understand people and a cultural competency formed through many years of both personal and professional experience.

Cynthia—who was born in Texas, raised in Japan, has studied, lived, and worked in virtually every region of the US and around the world—is a licensed lawyer in five jurisdictions. In addition to advising US clients in foreign countries, she has served as in-house counsel for two foreign global companies: as a commercial litigator for a large west coast law firm, assigned to spearhead the firm’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region, based in Japan; and later as general counsel for a Fortune 20 company in the financial services industry within Societas Europaea.

A dynamic, people-oriented executive, Cynthia is frequently invited to speak and give training sessions on critical compliance and governance topics by senior executives, board members, and legal and investigative professionals, including in-house training sessions for foreign corporations and bar associations on matters pertaining to US laws and legal system. She has implemented, revised, defended, and trained-in countless organizational ethics and compliance programs and has played leadership roles through Sarbanes Oxley as well as other regulatory-driven implementations.

Cynthia considers Northern California “home” but currently lives in the DC area. She is a serious cook and oenophile and is making steady progress as a golfer.
